Range Update & T Shirts

posted 15 Apr 2021, 19:15 by Maryborough Rifle and Pistol Club

Well the latest COVID19 scare has finished so it is back to shooting as normal. This weekend 17-18 April is the Club shoot weekend so we hope to see you all there. Times for Pistol and Rifle are as normal.

I also wish to advise that we are now operating with the Check In Qld App for COVID19 tracing. To be able to sign in with your smartphone or device you will need to download the Check In Qld App from Google Play or Apple App Store.
Get it on Google PlayDownload on the App Store

This will save a lot of time compared to the Manual sigh in system. If you do not have a capable device you can get someone else to sign you in. If you haven't downloaded the App you can still check in on your phone by using the special numerical code below the bar code.

Finally if you would like to order a Club Shirt you will need to do so by Sunday 18/4/21 as the order is being placed on Monday.

COVID Update - Shooting suspended weekend 3 & 4 April 2021

posted 1 Apr 2021, 00:22 by Maryborough Rifle and Pistol Club

Club shooting events are suspended for this weekend being 3rd & 4th April 2021.

As masks are still mandatory across Queensland you must wear a mask in indoor spaces which requires further clarification for our sport.

It has taken a considerable amount of time by the management committee today to decide to suspend this weekend club events.

Consequently as this more than likely will happen again a number of times in the future this issue is being listed for discussion at the next club meeting.

Maryborough Rifle Championships 2020

posted 16 Sept 2020, 03:25 by Maryborough Rifle and Pistol Club   [ updated 16 Sept 2020, 03:25]

The Maryborough Rifle Championships, which were cancelled back in June due to COVID-19 restrictions will now go ahead on 17 - 18 October 2020 at the Walker St range in Maryborough.  This event will be operated under a COVID safe plan.

The October weekend is traditionally the Maryborough Master Games shoot.  However with the master games not going ahead in 2020, it was decided to host the Maryborough Rifle Championships on the October weekend in it's place.

This will be the first open competition on the Walker St range since it was re-opened for shooting in February, after being closed for 7 years.  This is an open event to all current QTS affiliated members, it includes events for:
  • Prone Silhouette Rifle
  • Prone Target Rifle
  • Benchrest L/Vmt and H/Vmt
  • Air Rifle
Program: MRC PROG 2020

COVID-19 Stage 2 Update

posted 2 Jun 2020, 04:30 by Maryborough Rifle and Pistol Club

The Maryborough Rifle Championships, which were due to be held next weekend (13-14 June) are cancelled due to COVID-19.  Despite the Stage 2 restrictions coming into effect yesterday (1 June), running a prize meeting with a limitation of 20 people on the premises is not feasible.

The Fraser Coast Show in May was also cancelled and for the first time in 42 years the club did not run it's annual food stall at the show, our main fundraiser for the year.  Planning for an open day/come-n-try has also been put on hold for the time being.  This has meant a slow start to a year the club was expecting to be one of it's biggest years to date.  The main priority for the club will be to return to sport initially by resumption of normal club shooting fixtures.

A return to club competition shooting is scheduled for 13 - 14 June 2020.

The Club will implement appropriate COVID-19 controls, operate safely and comply with all relevant Queensland Government requirements and directives.

Club shooting competitions will resume as per the Calendar on the following days:
  • Pistol shooting will re-start 1pm on Saturday 13 June 2020 and  9am Tuesday 16 June 2020.
  • Rifle shooting will re-start on Sunday 14 June 2020, Silhouette rifle at 8.30am and Benchrest/Target rifle at 1pm.
  • Air Pistol/Air Rifle 6pm Wednesday 17 June 2020.
  • At other times, individual practice sessions are now permitted for club members only.
With COVID-19 Stage 3 restrictions due to come into effect on July 10, we are hopeful that the other activities planned for later in the year such as the Masters Games may still go ahead.  The club will also be working to setup an opportunity for regular come-and-try sessions for small numbers of people who may be thinking of joining the club.  Watch this space.

A club meeting has been set for Sunday 2nd February, 1:30pm to discuss the shooting programme calender.  Hope to see as many members at that meeting so you can have an input to our calender.

Latest Progress on Range Reopening

posted 8 Jan 2020, 19:47 by Maryborough Rifle and Pistol Club

We have received Weapons Licensing approval from Police for the bottom range and top range.  We are now waiting for the Full Bore Club to have a second inspection of their range.  Once they have their approval, both clubs will seek approval from Fraser Coast Council for permission to commence shooting.  The estimated start shooting date is now February 2020.

The prize shoots for this year will be held on the following dates:
  • Wide Bay Championships 13 & 14 June 2020
  • Maryborough Masters Games 17 & 18 October 2020
